It's the third meeting of the season between the teams, and the second this week as the Bulldogs (6-5-1-2, 3rd Island) host the Victoria Grizzlies (8-6-1-0, 2nd Island) for a matinee affair this afternoon at the Multiplex.
The Bulldogs were last in action of course last night at home, where they saw their winning streak stopped at three while extending their unbeaten streak to four with a 3-3 tie against the Prince George Spruce Kings. The Grizzlies had last night off, but were in action on home ice on Friday night where the snapped a four game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Coquitlam Express.
These teams have met twice already this season with each team picking up a win in the other teams building. The Grizzlies took the first meeting 4-2 on September 15th. The Bulldogs beat the Grizzlies 3-2 in overtime at the Q Centre on Wednesday night in the most recent meeting.
93.3 The Peak FM will broadcast live from the Multiplex starting at 1:45 with the pregame show, with the puck drop and play-by-play to follow at 2:00pm. Bruce MacDonald will handle the analysis and provide colour commentary, Dan Tisserand will compile team and individual stats and I'll call the play-by-play, all on Van Isle Ford Bulldogs Hockey.
Tonight's 2nd Intermission guest is former Bulldog Head Coach Nolan Graham (2009-2010) who is now an Assistant Coach with the NCAA's RPI Engineers.
Nolan is a great story, and a great example of what this league is all about. He played in the BCHL, he played in the NCAA with RPI before moving on to Pro Hockey. He then came back to the BCHL as a Coach, and now he's back with his former team as a Coach.
