Bulldogs back home to host Cents tonight

It's the first meeting of the season between the teams, and the kick off to a four game home stand as the Bulldogs (4-12-3-0, 5th Island) host the Merritt Centennials (8-8-3-1, T-3rd Interior) at the Multiplex.

The Bulldogs were in Victoria last night, where they dropped their 11th straight, 4-0 to the Grizzlies. The Centennials kicked off a three-game Island swing in Powell River last night, where they lost their fifth straight, 3-2 to the Kings in double overtime.

All the action as always can be heard on 93.3 The Peak FM with Van Isle Ford Bulldogs Hockey on the air at 6:45 for the pregame show, followed by the 7:00pm puck drop. Bruce MacDonald provides analysis and adds colour commentary while I call the play-by-play.

Tonight's 2nd Intermission guest is former Bulldog Connor Varley (Best Defenceman 2010-2011) who's off to a great start to his professional career with the EIHL's Manchester Storm after four seasons of NCAA Hockey with Penn State.

While Varley missed a chance to skate with his teammates and Justin Beiber last week - a funny topic I thought would never come up in an interview, he was fantastic where it mattered on the ice, scoring his first two goals of the season last weekend.
