It's the first edition this season of the "Battle of the Valleys" as the Bulldogs (4-9-1-0, 5th Island) host the Cowichan Valley Capitals (8-4-2-1, 2nd Island) tonight at the Dog Pound.
The Bulldogs were last in action Sunday night in Chilliwack, where they lost their sixth in a row, 4-1 to the Chiefs. The Capitals were in Nanaimo Wednesday night, where they snapped a mini two game slide with a 3-1 win over the Clippers.
Bruce MacDonald and I will have the call for you on Van Isle Ford's Bulldogs Hockey on 93.3 The Peak FM, with the broadcast commencing with the pregame show at 6:45, with the play-by-play to follow the 7:00pm puck drop.
Tonight's 2nd Intermission guest is former Bulldog Casey Bailey, who got off to a great start with the AHL's Binghamton Senators last week with two goals in their season opener.
It's great to be able to catch up with guys like Casey, not only to reminiss, but to reflect on their road to where they are now. Casey made the Dogs as a walk on in 2009. After a couple great years here, he spent a year in the USHL, three years with the NCAA's Penn State Nittany Lions, and then just last spring signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs and scored a goal on Hockey Night in Canada. Just awesome stuff. You never know where the kids you are watching every night in the BCHL might end up down the road in just a couple years.
This one is a little less flashy in regards to the production values, but it's just as cool - another first.
And one from right in our rink.
