Bulldogs Make Roster Moves: Add Elynuik From Camrose Kodiaks

PRESS RELEASE September 24, 2013

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Port Alberni – The Alberni Valley Bulldogs have acquired Jakson Elynuik from the Camrose Kodiaks of the AJHL for future considerations.

Elynuik will bring some experience to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs along with a good work ethic and some offense.

Elynuik is a 6’0”, 175lbs right winger who was drafted in the 7th round by the Kootenay Ice in the 2010 WHL draft and is the son of former NHLer Pat Elynuik best known for his time with the Winnipeg Jets.

To make room for Elynuik on the roster, the Bulldogs have traded 1994-born forward Shane O’Brien to the Blind River Beavers in the NOJHL for future considerations. In seven regular season games with the Bulldogs, O’Brien failed to register a point.

The Bulldogs also have reassigned 1996-born goalie Blake Pearson to the Comox Valley Glacier Kings of the VIJHL and will affiliate Pearson for the season.

To round-out the goaltending tandem for the ‘Dogs, the team signed Tyger Howat from Brighton, Michigan. Howat, born in 1995, stands at 6’3”, 200lbs and played 2012/13 season with Victory Honda U18 in the MWEHL. In 17 games with Victory Honda U18, Howat posted a 1.71 GAA and a .932 save percentage. Last season Howat also appeared in 3 games in the USHL, two games with the Indiana Ice and one game with the Team USA Juniors.

Both Elynuik and Howat will be in the line-up for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs this coming weekend.

Last week, the Alberni Valley Bulldogs also released 1995-born defenseman Jordan Andrews to the Richmond Sockeyes in the PJHL to make room for Darian Henry who was reassigned to the Bulldogs by the Regina Pats (WHL).
