Tlu-Piich games open today, Thunder in the Valley this weekend, Richardson on the move in major BCHL trade

The Nuu-chan-nulth Tribal Council hosts the 2011 Tlu-Piich games, with Opening Ceremonies getting underway at 5pm tonight at Bob Daily Stadium. For more information, check out the Tlu-Piich facebook group

Thunder in the Valley 2011 goes this weekend with the Show & Shine Friday night from 6pm to 9pm at the Harbour Quay presented by Valley Street Rods, and the Racing Saturday and Sunday at the Port Alberni Airport.

93.3 The Peak will be live from the Show N' Shine Friday and the racing on Saturday so be sure to tune in!

A major trade in the BCHL's Coastal Conference as one-time Bulldog AP Evan Richardson has been sent to the Powell River Kings from the Victoria Grizzlies in exchange for Michael Garteig (G), Scott Renner (F), and Braeden Pears (D).

Garteig was believed to be on his way to a NCAA scholarship to Quinnipiac but it sounds like he's on his way back to the BCHL. Richardson is WHL property of the Swift Current Broncos, but also has his NCAA future secured with a scholarship to Boston College for 2013. It would be interesting to know if there is any conditions on this 3 for 1 deal should Richardson decided to try his hand at the USHL.According to Gregg Drinnan's Taking Note, the Grizzlies were concerned that Richardson might go that route.
