Pens win Cup, Sidney Crosby's injury, Bulldogs Alumni News...

Well the Pittsburgh Penguins have won the Stanley Cup. Old news I know, but hey, I had a busy weekend!

So, my question now - What else can Sidney Crosby do, besides win an Olympic Gold Medal, or a Conn Smythe Trophy? Maybe PLAY in the Stanley Cup deciding game?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I was expecting to hear that Crosby had a torn MCL / ACL or some major injury after missing most of the second period, and only being able to play one shift in the third period.

Bobby Baun he isn't. I'm not doubting he was banged up, I just expected he'd be significantly injured to miss all that time in what was the biggest game of his career. All I heard yesterday was that an MRI wasn't even necessary. Am I the only one a little surprised?

I have never doubted an injury, and of course I have no idea how it actually felt for Crosby...I just felt at the time for some odd reason that it almost felt like pulling the chute, and now that he's not really "injured" it feels more of the same way. I'll end it with the same statement as above - Bobby Baun he ain't. For those that don't know, Baun's playing on a BROKEN LEG is one of the all-time legends about sucking it up and playing through the pain.

Anyway, I'm just happy the Wings didn't win, and I'm happy for Fleury and Malkin and all the guys on the Pens.

This will be a very fun time....

Crosby: They weren't sure what was wrong with him. Why take chances?

I do see that side of it, if you mean "he's a liability on the ice, don't take chances" but I'm not so sure I see that side of it if it's "he might get hurt, don't take chances" because he already was obviously hurt or banged up, but the cup was THAT close....If he made a positive difference in winning it, well you just don't get that chance too often. Back to the beginning, if he's a liability, I understand not playing.

Another side to it I guess is that maybe Sid should be COMMENDED for not playing if he knew he was hurt?

The "warrior" and the guy playing through injuries is glorified..Maybe he hurts more than helps though?

Thanks for the comment!

I think it was the liability issue not wanting to cost his team the cup not being able to keep up out there
