BANTAMS SPLIT
The Bantam A Bulldogs played two games on the November 29-30 weekend. On Saturday they were out-muscled by an Oceanside team determined to make up for two recent losses to the Bulldogs. Marino Somerville combined with Cortland Thibodeau and Sam Visona to get Alberni on the board first with their combination of speed and passing. Oceanside got it back at the mid point of the first period and then went up 2-1 on a power play. They added 2 more in the second period and another in the third for a 5-1 final in a game where most of the bounces seemed to go the wrong way.
On Sunday Alberni hosted Comox in an exhibition game and had a chance to try out some new line combinations. In spite of the unfamiliar combinations the Bulldogs had a strong start. Cameron MacAdams took a pass from Brett Williscroft to open scoring at the eight minute mark in the first period. Then, early in the second period Somerville scored with a nice backhand. Austin Smith assisted. Seconds later Nathan Read combined on a give and go with Brandon Antonichuk and put a shot under the goalie from right in front to go up 3-0.
After a long stretch with no whistles Comox finally scored at the seven minute mark of the second period. After the ice clean they came out hard and scored again to make it 3-2 at the end of the period. Their momentum carried into a third period which was mostly a defensive battle. With two minutes to go Ryan White jumped up to increase offensive pressure. The Comox goalie turned away three shots before Beau Wilson finally got his stick on a rebound and put it in the open side. Colby Lim was credited with the assist. Comox was not done and answered with their own goal a minute later. In the end Alberni held on for the 4-3 win.
After the Canucks game, Rob saw all the players waiting for the bus or for the other guys and he was able to go right down to get some amazing pics and meet the guys. I'm green with Envy.
Here's Rob and Roberto...
A special prize to whomever can tell me which Sedin this is!
He went up top to see the view with the rowdies in the nose bleeds at MSG...
Also, with some masterful camera work he got a Rangers goal and got to be right in the middle of the Rangers goal chant from up top.
I knew the NYC cabbies were nuts...but THIS nuts? haha.
Before a Knicks game. Properly hydrating I see.
The Rangers store at MSG. Rob says it's the best team store in North America. But WHO would want to actually wear RANGERS stuff? HA.
Ok the cameraman isn't as good on this one....but still pretty cool, three Canuck fans (nice uni Rob, love the yellow) breaking some bread with some orange-clad Isle fans.
NEXT TIME TRY BRINGING ME BACK SOMETHING!!
