So......Anyone heading down to Victoria tomorrow? I sure wouldn't mind checking out Game 7 between the Grizzlies and Capitals.
The Caps were of course down 3 games to 1 before staying alive with a 4-1 win at Bear Mountain Arena on Friday night. Saturday back at the BIG STICK they won 3-1 to force tomorrow's game 7.
Who is the pressure on? Interesting question. The pressure has to be on the Caps, right? Simply because if they lose, IT'S OVA.
For the Grizzlies, there has to be some pressure there as well, because if they lose it's not over but they wait until May when they will play again in the RBC. No host team wants the "backdoor" label thrown on them.
I have to pick the Capitals in this one. Don't get me wrong, I think the Grizzlies are a GREAT team, but when it comes to playoffs and game seven's especially, it's all about effort and desire and passion and etc etc etc. NO ONE is ever as motivated out there, as when they are fighting for their season to continue, and for some guys, for their careers to continue.
If the Capitals react positively to the pressure, and it brings out the good in them, they'll win. If they get tight though, the Grizzlies will move on.
In the end, the Capitals have everything to lose, not the Grizzies.

Evan it was a tough game vs the Penticton Vees today. We started with a goal each in first two minutes as we went up 2-1 but they tied before the end of the first. They scored lone goal on second. Lots of errors on our part and difficulty clearing the zone. They took a 4-2 lead and went on power play, you could just tell what was going to happen.... Dogs sprung Leo Fitzgerald free for the shorthanded goal 4-3. Unfortunately we squandered the momentum and they potted a pp goal. It ended 6-4. Catlin McLeod with two goals and Andre Savard with one, Matt Larose in goal kept the team out of trouble as best as he could. Port Moody tomorrow(today) at 11.

Canucks host Kings on THE PEAK, GM place on strike, Salvation Army and THE PEAK need your help!
The Canucks are back in action tonight as they host the LA Kings. Catch the pregame show on THE PEAK at 6:30pm, with the puck drop and the play-by-play shortly after 7:00pmIt might be an interesting sight heading into GM place tonight, and it might be a tough job to get a beer or something to eat.....this beauty showed up in my email this morning from CKNW
CKNW Breaking News... 700 unionized employees at GM Place have gone on strike. The Canucks have a home game tonight so hockey fans will be greeted by picket lines.
Yikes....
It's a big day tomorrow as the Salvation Army needs your help. The Peak has jumped on board to try and help them tomorrow. Hopefully we'll see you there!

A fire recently destroyed much of the Salvation Army Thrift Store’s stock and they need your help replacing it. So clean out your closets and drop off your unwanted spring/summer clothing and household items at the special donation drive this Saturday from 10 to 2 in the Wal-mart parking lot. Evan and Jolie from the Peak will be there and the Salvation Army’s critical response unit will be serving up hot dogs and refreshments.

Great news on Bulldog Alumni, Nucks visit Ducks on THE PEAK
Thanks to Chris and to Tom McEvay for a nice update on some former Dogs having success at the next level...
It's PAY-PER-VIEW but free to listen on THE PEAK tonight as the Canucks visit the Ducks.

Just a heads up in case you missed it on some Bulldog alumni ….
· Tyler Ruel scored 4 goals last weekend as UBC defeated Lethbridge in a round one best 2/3 playoff. Tyler had a hat trick in game one. All 3 games went to OT. UBC plays U of S in the Canada West semi final series this weekend.
· Harry Zolnierczyk scored his first goal of the season for Brown and it was a big one in a 1-0 win over Harvard in game one of their Ivy League round one playoff. Brown defeated Havard 2-0 the next night to win the series. They play Yale this weekend.
· Brown captain Devin Timberlake had back surgery 3 weeks ago and is making an excellent recovery and should be ready to go for next season as a senior at Brown.
· Goaltender Brian Stewart led Northern Michigan to a first round playoff series victory over Michigan State last weekend. Stewie was tremendous in the two games vs their rivals as he has been all season.

The Bulldogs organization was saddened by the sudden passing of Colin Smillie this past weekend. Colin was an avid Bulldog fan and was an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer who will be greatly missed.
“Colin was an important part of our volunteer team and will be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with Colin’s family through this difficult time.” Andy Oakes President Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

Colin of course played the role of "Bernie the Bulldog".
No offense to anyone else who has played the role, but no one was Bernie like Colin was. It takes a special person to play that role, someone who is secure in who they are, who doesn't give a hoot. Someone who will have fun and push the limits a little maybe, without being afraid. Colin was that guy through and through. He always gave me a hairy-pawed "pound that" with the knuckles before every game in the tunnel. He cared deeply about the team and the community. Whether he was in the suit or he wasn't, he was at nearly every community event I've ever been at.
My condolences go out to his family and friends, and to the Bulldogs organization.
Colin, I'll miss you buddy. Rest in peace.
