On the cutting room floor! Sean Avery to the AHL - Hartford Wolfpack, Josh Bonar traded.

Alright a bunch of stuff to touch on here...

Sadly I didn't make it on Vancouver Island Report last night. Maybe there was too much REAL or important news? haha. Anyway, the story should be on tonight between 6:30 and 7pm so catch it if you can!

Sean Avery assigned to American Hockey League's Hartford Wolf Pack

DALLAS - Sean Avery's hockey career is about to resume in Hartford.

The Dallas Stars have assigned him to the American Hockey League's Hartford Wolf Pack.

Avery hasn't appeared in a game since being suspended by the NHL in December after making his infamous remark about other hockey players dating his former girlfriends.

He recently completed treatment in the NHL/NHLPA counselling program and was cleared from that over the weekend.

The Stars don't currently have an AHL affiliate and could have sent him to any willing team.

Hartford is affiliated with the New York Rangers, the NHL team Avery played for prior to signing a free-agent contract with the Stars over the summer.

And thanks to both Susie Quinn (Alberni Valley News) and David Wiwchar (A TV) for both giving me a heads up this one...Former Bulldog Josh Bonar is on the move again.

Read about it HERE

Best of luck in Laredo Bonez...Sounds like another puck to bring back?

Thanks again for the heads up Susie and David.

MY VIDEO-PLEASE VOTE FOR ME! - Tourism Queensland "Best Job in the World" contest, Bulldogs visit Clippers, Alberni Invitational, Interview Requests

Hello and Happy Friday!

I received some pretty exciting news last night in the form of an email from the Tourism Queensland people - they have ACCEPTED MY VIDEO APPLICATION for the "Best Job in the World" contest that I talked about here on the blog a while back.

I was starting to get a little worried because I submitted my video about two weeks ago and I still hadn't heard anything yet..FINALLY I got the word that I am IN.

NOW I just need all of your help to vote for me! While the Tourism Queensland people select the 50 that make the first cut, and then the 10 finalists, the PEOPLE also get to pick one entry, a "wild card" so to speak, so the more votes the better!

I have taken a look at lots of the videos submitted already, and save for a couple here and there that don't seem to have much effort or know-how put into them, they are all fantastic.

I can't ask you to vote for me because I'm the best or my video is the best or yaddah yaddah. Plenty of entries and videos are all worthy of the job. It's just a matter of opinion now I guess.

I hope in YOUR opinion I'm the guy for the job. I covered the criteria in the video - the successful applicant needs to be media friendly, adventurous, a BLOGGER, fun, and someone who enjoys swimming/snorkeling/fishing/bush wacking - which I do!

I think that I am perfect for the job!

I am an amateur film maker at best, but I did put a tonne of work into this baby. Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas or feedback or worked the camera!

I hope you enjoy the video... 60 seconds was just WAY TO SHORT! I tried to be confident, not cocky.

Please vote on the video above, and also please vote on the video at THIS LINK

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, I'm begging! I'll let you come hang in Australia on the beach with me!

Alright, off the beach and onto the ice...

Tourism Queensland - Island Caretaker wanted for the "Best Job in the World" contest

This is going to be totally 100% NOT hockey related. Sorry!

BUT, I won't apologize a second further because I'm trying to win the "Best Job in the World" contest.

The job is a well paid 6 month stay as the "Island Caretaker" on Hamilton Island, Australia. What an incredibly smart promotional idea here...So popular, it has appeared to crash the website where one is supposed to get more information!

If it starts working again, for more details you can check out the Tourism Queensland homepage.

So what are the qualifications? You have to be able to swim and live an adventurous life. Um, HELLO? I grew up on the water. And adventure might as well be my middle name! HAHA.

Oh yah - You also need to run a BLOG to promote the Island and Australia to a "Global Market" through Audio and Video and pictures.

HELLO, look at this blog!

Here's my audition!

Audio - Here's a phone call live on THE PEAK morning show today to Tourism Queensland stating my case.

CLICK TO LISTEN - HERE

Maybe I could make them some videos like this (MY VIDEOS) that I made to promote the Alberni Valley and my hometown of Flin Flon, Manitoba and everywhere in between..

Hey, I need to do something in the off season from the hockey, right?
