28th Annual Toy Run today! Route, Dance tickets...

The 28th Annual Port Alberni  Toy Run goes today, with the Bikes leaving Little Qualicum Falls at NOON SHARP. Just another awesome Port Alberni event that I look forward to every year, and I'm lucky enough to be involved in every year! I will be bringing you all the action on 93.3 The Peak FM starting at 12 noon as the bikes roar into to town. After that we take the show down to all the festivities at Glenwood.

Here's the route - down Johnston Road, up Gertrude/Stamp/3rd, right onto Kingsway, down to the Harbour Quay, around the fountain, up Argyle, down 10th ave all the way to Glenwood!

If you have to get anywhere in town today, I strongly suggest you do it before noon, or after 1pm, as traffic will be snarled in town for close to an hour.

Yes, it is an inconvenience.

In my humble opinion, it is a very small price to pay for the huge amount of dollars the Toy Run brings into our community, and the community events they support, ie Starlight Movie Night, the Easter Bunny Express, and of course the thousands upon thousands of toys they deliver to those less fortunate at the holidays!

After the bikes arrive at Glenwood Centre and everyone has time to get reacquainted they get the adult bike rodeo games going which are always thrilling to watch. At the same time there will be tonnes of free stuff for the kids so be sure to bring them down! Fish pond, clowns, face painting, bounce-around, popcorn, cotton candy, and all sorts of other yummy treats!

The dance goes tonight which is always an epic party, featuring Wunderbread and Nie Shift! All pre-tickets for the dance are sold out. Tickets will be available to the riders out at Little Qualicum Falls this morning...any remaining tickets will go on sale at 2pm TODAY AT GLENWOOD!

Tomorrow is the Pancake breakkie put on by the Shriners followed by the Poker Run.

Also tomorrow, the Terry Fox Run and the Bulldogs inagural Car Show at Bob Dailey Stadium, followed by the Bulldogs pre game Tail Gate BBQ and the 2pm faceoff to follow between the Dogs and the Powell River Kings! Cars will be set up at Bob Dailey starting at 11:30, with fans encouraged to vote on their favorite!

Off to get ready for the Toy Run now!
