Two scholarships this week, Walker Hyland commits to Michigan Tech, Zolnierczyk on Flyers 2nd line tonight....

Huge congrats to Walker Hyland, as the Dogs announced today that he's off to Michigan Tech next season. He joins Josh Mitchell as the second Bulldog securing a scholarship this week. Two different stories, with Mitchell being here for 2 full seasons already, and Walker arriving shortly after this season started. In the end, huge congrats to both players, to Educational Advisor Tom McEvay, and to the Bulldogs organization!

Walker joins former Bulldogs Kevin Genoe and Nick Cecere with the Huskies. Former Bulldog Evan Witt also played with the Huskies for two seasons 09-10 and 10-11 but I see he's not on the roster for the team this season.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs would like to announce that 91 D Walker Hyland has committed to the Division 1 hockey program of the Michigan Tech Huskies. The Huskies play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) of the NCAA.

“Walker is well deserving of this commitment. He has come in as a new player to the league and led by example,“ comments Head Coach/Assistant Director of Hockey Operations Paul Esdale.
“Walker will be a very good offensive defenseman in college hockey,”states Esdale.

Hyland will attend Michigan Tech University in the 2012-2013 season.

“I would like to thank the entire organization of the Bulldogs, my friends, family and former Coaches for supporting me throughout my hockey career,” said Hyland. “I would like to thank the Michigan Tech staff for giving me this opportunity and I look forward to having a successful season in Alberni,” said Hyland.

Harry Zolnierczyk is in the line up tonight as the Flyers take on the New Jersey Devils. While he got called up for yesterday's game in Buffalo, he didn't make the line up. Reports say he's slated to play on the Flyers second line today with Wayne Simmonds and Max Talbot...Way to go Harry and good luck tonight!
