I apologize for the down time around the blog lately. I've been keeping busy with a lack of hockey all of a sudden - moving, fathering, assembling child's toys...wow that isn't an easy job! I have indeed followed the playoffs - although not much more than looking at Boxscores. Just too much life right now to keep me busy!
Back to some blogging - anyone surprised with how the Playoffs have played out this round?
Surrey tops Langley in 6 - it's pretty much how I saw this one going. Nice to see former Bulldog and Port Alberni Native Robert Lindores putting up some great numbers - in 10 games played he has 6 goals and 3 assists for 9 points. As a comparison, he had 9 goals in 60 regular season games.
Victoria takes a 3-1 series lead on Powell River, game 7 goes tonight in PR as the Kings fight back...This isn't surprising to me - Victoria is as offensively talented as anyone, and they have a great keeper in Matt Ginn. Powell River is a defensively sound as anyone, and they play a very structured team game. The Kings are of course coming off a 1st Round bye - going on the Bulldogs experiences last year, the bye does little good UNLESS you get deep in the playoffs, like the League Finals or the Doyle Cup. When you are a team coming off the bye facing a team that has just been through a playoff series, it's not easy to immediately find your game, and raise your game to the level needed to win in the playoffs. Maybe with back to back wins to force Game 7 tonight the Kings have found their game. Is the pressure on them tonight, or on Victoria?
Incredibly, this is the THIRD STRAIGHT series for the Kings to go to a Game 7. Bulldog fans will remember (painfully) that the Kings trailed 3-1 last year in the Coastal Final before coming back to win. They also trailed the Vipers 3 games to 2 last year to force a Game 7 in the League Final before losing, and now, it's Game 7 all over again. They are certainly experienced in playing Game 7's.
