While both teams had their chances the scoring was few and far between in this one. The Silverbacks had the better of the opportunities early but the Dogs took a 1-0 lead when they struck 10 seconds into a power play opportunity when Tyler Berkholtz converted a perfect cross crease pass. The goal came just over seven minutes into the first period, and there wouldn't be another one until just over six minutes left in the third when Brett Knowles tipped in a power play point shot to tie it at 1-1. The Dogs answered back in short order as less than two minutes later Josh Mitchell walked right to the net with some deft stick handling and tucked it home. Connor Varley sealed the deal when he stole a pass at centre ice and flipped one into the empty net with half a minute to play.
Next up for the Dogs is their first long roadie of the season with games in Trail Wednesday night, Westside Friday night and Penticton Saturday night.
