PINK THE RINK! + Bulldogs in the Community, + Pack the Shack, WIN, + CANUCKS BACK ON THE PEAK!

Sorry I've been slacking on the blog, I just haven't felt 100% at all this week. NO, not the swine flu, just a horrible cold. I am starting to feel better as the weekend and the Bulldog Broadcasts arrive though, and that's all that matters!

It's October - which means that it's BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH.

Here's the jist of "Pink the Rink" from my initial post about it early in September:

In an effort to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer, the Bulldogs have commissioned special pink jerseys that they'll wear one night only, October 25th when they host the Penticton Vees.

The Dogs are looking for corporate sponsors to adopt a jersey. What the sponsors get is the jersey to hang in their business for the month of October. Fans and customers that visit the businesses will be able to enter a draw to win the jersey, as long as they make a small donation towards Breast Cancer Awareness.

At the end of the game on October 25th the corporate sponsors will be on the ice and the players will present them the jersey off their back. The corporate sponsor will then present the jersey to the lucky fan who had his or her name drawn.

Its moments like this that I'm really proud of the Dogs organization and what they are trying to accomplish. The "pink the rink" idea has been around for a year or two, but it has been reserved for higher levels of hockey, to the best of my knowledge. I'm certain that the Dogs are the first BCHL team to go so far as to commission special jerseys for this cause.

Here's some other things happening this weekend you need to know about:

Come out and MEET THE PLAYERS

Everyone welcome Free Skate Sunday Oct. 4th 3:00 - 4:45 we will also have sign up for the Kids Club, Hotdog BBQ proceeds going to Breast Cancer courtesy of Safeway, Autograph sessions.

Ron Gray at Sutton Group-West Coast Realty hand made a willow chair and is donating it for a free draw on the Saturday night game against Nanaimo. Ron believes that the players are working hard for Port Alberni, and he wants to fill the arena, so the players can feel the support and keep them on their winning ways.

The Canucks are BACK on 93.3 THE PEAK. Catch the pregame show tonight at 6:30, with the puck drop and play-by-play shortly after 7:00pm from Calgary.
