SHAW tv story, Dogs name coach today, THANKS THANKS THANKS Bulldogs...

First off, here's the story that SHAW did regarding me winning the Team1040/BCHL Broadcaster of the Year Award. Thanks to Jenny Fortin and the great people at SHAW!

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs will be announcing their new Head Coach and General Manager for the 2009-2010 season today at an open-to-the-public press conference at the Multiplex at 2pm.

I am excited to see who the new guy is. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the press conference. Don't fret, I have given Bulldogs Business Manager Blair Noel a crash-course on how to record some audio for me. Here's hoping that it will go off without a hitch and I can get some audio on the air on THE PEAK and here on the blog for you.

Why can't I make the presser? Well that's HALF the fault of the Bulldogs. I'm heading over to Vancouver a day early in advance of the Canucks vs Sharks game tomorrow. I'll have the opportunity of a lifetime tomorrow to attend the Canucks and Sharks gameday skates, and I'll also be able to pick the brain of Randy Hahn, play-by-play voice of the San Jose Sharks.

All of this is thanks to the Bulldogs organization, who have gone above and beyond to set this up for me in the hopes of making my broadcasts better while also making some contacts to further my career.

The call a couple of months ago from Bulldogs President Andy Oakes went something like this "Hi Hammer it's Andy. We really appreciate your efforts and what you do for the station on behalf of the team... To show our appreciation, would you be interested in us connecting you with a couple NHL broadcasters to go over your demos and help you out"

Ummmmm let me think.... SURE.

Long story short, he connected me with Randy Hahn, who has also gone above and beyond to help me out by securing me a press pass to attend the game day skates tomorrow. The Dogs got me a place to sleep and secured my entrance to the game. I cannot even begin to say thanks enough!

A huge thanks to Andy Oakes and the Bulldogs and Randy Hahn. I don't think I deserve any of this for one second...but I won't turn any of it down!!

I'll wave at you from GM place on Hockey Night in Canada Saturday night.

I'm heading over a day early to catch the Vancouver Giants vs. the Calgary Hitmen at Pacific Coliseum. This should be a doozy, the battle of the top two teams in the 'Dub. I'll wave at you from the Coliseum on SHAW TV tonight, haha!

I'm checkin' out....More on the new coach and GM as I can get it to you.

Hammer
