It's the second meeting between these teams in five days, as the Bulldogs (3-7-0-0, T-4th Island) begin their BCHL Showcase appearance by taking on the host Chiefs (4-4-0-0, T-2nd Mainland) at the Chilliwack Coliseum.
The Bulldogs were last in action Sunday afternoon in Coquitlam, where they dropped their third in a row, 4-2 to the Express.
The Chiefs last played Saturday night at home, in an odd scheduling quirk, it was against the Bulldogs, where they won their second straight, 5-2
The Showcase is a great event and it's a unique experience to be a part of. It's a cool atmosphere when you walk into the rink, with league games already underway when you show up at the rink to prepare for yours. You can't turn your head without seeing a scout from the professional or collegiate hockey ranks, Every year I've attended it I always feel privileged to be able to work in conjunction with this great league. Now about tomorrow, when I'm broadcasting standing on a chair backwards against the glass in the small rink....well that's a topic for tomorrow.
For the players - I can't imagine how exciting and motivating it must be to have this opportunity. The only caveat - don't play as an individual, don't play to impress. That just takes away from getting noticed for the right reasons, in my opinion. Do what you do, and what got you here.
