Bulldogs host Clippers tonight, Amos' 1000th game

It's the first meeting between the teams since mid September, as the Bulldogs (5-12-3-0, 5th Island) play host to the Nanaimo Clippers (10-8-2-0, 4th Island) tonight at the Multiplex.

The Dogs were last in action Saturday night at home where they snapped an 11 game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Merritt Centennials. The Clippers were also last in action against the Centennials, snapping a two game losing streak with a 7-0 win Sunday afternoon at the Frank Crane Arena.

It's the third meeting of the season between the teams, with each side winning in the other team's rink. The Bulldogs won the season opener 4-1 on September 9th. The Clippers got some revenge with a 3-0 win in the Dog Pound on September 16th.

Bulldogs Assistant Equipment Manager Jamie Amos works his 1000th Junior Hockey game tonight - 866 with the Bulldogs and 144 with the Junior B Port Alberni Bandits if I have my numbers correct, and the Dogs are celebrating and hoping to have a great crowd on hand with 2 for 1 admission - anyone with a General Admission ticket can have a buddy join them for free. Pretty cool idea.

What can be said about Jamie Amos, and what he means to the community and to the hockey team. It's impossible to even attempt to put it into words. Heart and soul. The biggest beauty in the league, without question. Thanks for all that you do for the team and for the community Jamie. I'm better off as a person for the fact that I can call you a friend, and the same can be said for everyone else you've come into contact with along this amazing journey. Take a look at a couple great pictures below - from Jamie's 400th game, his 500th game, and his meeting with BCHL Commissioner John Grisdale, and some other guy you might have heard of... some Gretzky guy!

If you can't make it to the game, we'll bring it to you, on Van Isle Ford Bulldogs Hockey on 93.3 The Peak FM, starting with the pregame show at 6:45, followed by the game action at 7:00. The full crew will be in the booth - Bruce MacDonald will provide the colour commentary and analysis, Dan Tisserand will compile team and player statistics and I will call the play-by-play.

Tonight's 2nd Intermission guest is Kyle Balzer, the play-by-play voice of the Surrey Eagles, who visit the Dog Pound on Saturday night.
