Bulldogs host Clippers tonight

It's the final regular season meeting between the teams tonight as the Bulldogs (19-25-3-3, 5th Island) host the Clippers (34-17-1-1, 1st Island) at the Dog Pound.

The Bulldogs were last in action Saturday night at home where they had their winning streak halted at three with a tough-luck 3-2 loss to the Penticton Vees. The Clippers meanwhile were at home last night where they picked up a 7-4 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals. It's certainly a unique schedule for the Clippers, as they play back-to-back midweek games before then having the entire weekend off from game action.

These teams last met Wednesday, January 27th at the Dog Pound, a 5-3 Nanaimo win in a wild game that saw the Clippers race out to an early 4-0 lead in the second, only to have the Dogs roar back and score three straight to get back into it, before having what looked like the tying goal waved off by the Referee with less than six to play in the third period, with the Clippers then going up by two goals just seconds later to seal the victory.

The Clippers should be without the league's leading scorer in Sheldon Rempal tonight, as he picked up a five minute major for a blow to the head last night, which carries with it a minimum and automatic two game suspension. I was watched the incident Fast Hockey what I saw was: Rempal holding the puck for a considerable length of time in open ice in the neutral zone and drawing the opposition and contact to him before passing the puck and then cross-checking the attempted checker in the head. There's two sides to every puck of course.

Pacific Chevrolet Bulldogs Hockey on 93.3 The Peak FM will have all the action covered for you, with Dan Tisserand compiling and providing team and player statistics while Bruce MacDonald adds colour and analysis while I bring the play-by-play. The broadcast commences at 6:45 with the pregame show, with the puck drop and all the game action to follow at 7:00pm.
