Dogs visit Caps tonight to open up 2016

It's the first game of 2016 for both clubs tonight as the Bulldogs (13-20-2-2, 5th Island) visit the Capitals (18-14-3-2, 3rd Island) at the Big Stick for another edition of the Battle of the Valleys.

The Dogs were last in action Thursday night in Powell River, dropping their fourth in a row 5-0 to the Kings. The Capitals last played Wednesday night at home where they lost their second in a row 5-3 to the Clippers.

This will be the fifth meeting between the teams this season, with the Capitals winning three of four. The last meeting in Duncan was a 5-3 Capitals win on Novevember 25th.

The Big Stick is always a tough place to play, and the Dogs must bring their best effort if they hope to leave with two points. Here's hoping they bring a level of desperation with them as this is their final game in hand on the Grizzlies who sit two points up on the Dogs in the Island Division standings. I expect the Caps to be motivated as well as they now sit third in the standings with Powell River winning two in a row over the Dogs after losing their three previous contests.

We've got it all covered for you as always on Van Isle Ford Bulldogs Hockey on 93.3 The Peak FM with the broadcast beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 with the puck drop scheduled to follow at 7:00pm.
