Dogs host Kings this afternoon

It's the third meeting head-to-head between the teams in just twelve days as the Bulldogs (13-22-2-2, 5th Island) host the Powell River Kings (22-14-2-0, 2nd Island) for a matinee affair today at the Dog Pound.

The Bulldogs last saw action at home on Friday night where they lost their seventh in a row in a heartbreaker, 4-3 to the Cowichan Valley Capitals in overtime. The Kings are playing their third game in three days today - they fell 5-3 in Victoria Friday night and last night lost their second in a row, 3-2 in Nanaimo.

The Kings have swept all four games of the season series so far, most recently taking two from the Bulldogs on December 30th and 31st in Powell River by scores of 2-1 in OT and 5-0 respectively. The Dogs had best not take the Kings lightly - the only game in the Dog Pound this season was the same scenario as today, with the Kings coming in to finish a three-in-three way back on Sunday, September 20th where the Kings topped the Dogs 7-0.

93.3 The Peak has you covered as always, with Pacific Chevrolet Bulldogs Hockey taking to the airwaves with the pregame show at 1:45 with the puck drop to follow at 2pm. I will call the play-by-play while Bruce MacDonald will provide the colour commentary and analysis.

If you aren't in listening range of 93.3 The Peak FM you can listen to/watch the game by:

Today's 2nd Intermission guest is former BCHL'er and current Carolina Hurricane Riley Nash, in an interview he had this week on TSN 1040 in Vancouver with Matt Sekeres and Scott Rintoul.

It's another great reminder about how you never know where the kids you are watching on any given night in the BCHL might end up down the road. Nash played with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in 2006-2007 before playing three years at Cornell University. After a couple seasons in the AHL he is now into his fourth season in the National Hockey League.

Don't forget the BCHL This Week radio show goes Saturday mornings at 9:30 on TSN 14010.
