Former Bulldog Kenney Morrison signs with Calgary Flames

Huge congrats to former Bulldog Kenney Morrison, who signed a two-year contract yesterday with the Calgary Flames.

Morrison played one season with the Bulldogs in 2010-2011, and it was a memorable one. He was the teams leading scorer for defenceman that season, and also the leading scorer amongst the rookies, earning him the Bulldogs Rookie of the Year award. He spent the following year with the USHL's Omaha Lancers, and the last three with the NCAA's University of Western Michigan Broncos where he was teammates with former Bulldog Frank Slubowski.

Very cool to see a former Bulldog signing with a big league club, congrats Kenney and best of luck!

C'mon though Kenney, anyone but the FLAMES! I'm not a fan...but I guess I am a little bit now!

Who was the coach the year that Kenny was here?
Now that the season is over and we have had sometime to get away from the season, what are your highlights of the past year?
Any thoughts on the Powell River and Nanaimo series?

Don't tell me you'd rather see him sign with the Oilers? A club that has NO idea how to evaluate or develop young players.

Any thoughts on Casey Bailey and Toronto?

Head Coach was Paul Esdale when Kenney was here, Kevin Hasselberg was the assistant - not sure who he was recruited by, whether it was Nolan Graham the season before or Paul. No matter what, the Coaches should no doubt be very proud for the part they played in identifying his talent and what they did to help him grow as a player when he was here.

I will get to my highlights and a final thank you on the season coming up in the next couple of days. Regarding Powell River/Nanaimo - I didn't watch a lot but caught some of the action. Hard fought, tight, could have went either way just like I thought the Bulldogs/Clippers series could have. We sometimes think the Regular Season isn't worth a lot, but back to back home ice wins for Nanaimo says that it's worth something. In the Clippers vs Kings series, the home team won every game.

To LaRon - no offense intended to the Flames, it was said only in jest. Truth be told, I watched a good portion of the last couple Flames games and I was sure impressed with how they move the puck and skate. Lots of pace to their game and young talent, certainly headed in the right direction!

Regarding Casey Bailey signing with the Leafs - obviously very exciting news! Accept my apologies I didn't get it on the blog yet...At the time the news broke I was chasing my two boys around in the mud at a petting farm. I did manage to get it out on my facebook/twitter and the facebook and twitter accounts for THE PEAK along with The Peak website, but I do realize not everyone is on social media.

Thanks for the comments/questions and interest in the blog.
