It's the first edition in some time in the "Battle of the Valleys" as the Cowichan Valley Capitals (14-24-1-1, 5th Island) make a trip to the Alberni Valley to face the Bulldogs (18-12-1-3, 4th Island) for an afternoon tilt at the Dog Pound.
This is the first meeting between the teams in what feels like forever, as they last met on November 2nd in Duncan, a 6-1 Bulldog win, which ran their record in the season series against the Capitals to 4-0-0-0. The past means absolutely nothing when the puck drops today, of course. The Capitals entered that game with a 3 and 13 record are are without question a much improved hockey club entering play today going 10-11-1-1 since, beating some pretty good teams along the way in Penticton, Victoria, Powell River, and Nanaimo - twice.
The Bulldogs were last in action Friday night at home where they won their third in a row, 7-3 over the Surrey Eagles, while the Capitals were at home last night where they beat the Eagles 6-4. for their third win in their last four games.

Tonight's 2nd Intermission guest is former Bulldog (last year's MVP) Connor LaCouvee, now with the Boston University Terriers.
For those that missed the game last Saturday night, it sure was a nice moment as Connor came out to drop the ceremonial puck and received his Bulldogs jersey that he didn't get at last year's Awards Banquet, as he was expected to return to the team this season.
The interview with Connor is from the BCHL This Week radio show from a couple weeks back with TSN 1040 host Jeff Patterson. You can catch the show Saturday mornings at 9:30 on TSN 1040.
I will make sure to catch up with Connor to do my own interview with him before the season is over, for now I hope you enjoy hearing from him with Jeff!
