A weekend for my weekend, Exhibition coming up, Jolie joins Bulldogs, Fall Fair coming up, Golf Tourney next weekend

Whew, what a lonnnnnng weekend! After being on Salmon Fest Grounds reporting Live for 93.3 The Peak on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, I need a weekend for my weekend! No rest for the wicked though, right back at it today!

The first portion of Bulldogs Training Camp ended on Sunday with the annual Red vs White Intersquad game. A unique change saw mostly vets on one team and rookies on the other, with the Vets winning by what I believe was an 8-0 score. I'm sure the Coaching staff would have liked the game to be a bit closer with the rooks pushing the vets more, I still think it was a great idea to illustrate how tough the competition is going to be with returning players and top prospects when it comes to Exhibition play.

The first Exhibition game is of course this Friday in Oceanside with the Dogs playing host to the Victoria Grizzlies. The Dogs make their Home-Ice Exhibition debut this Saturday when the Cowichan Valley Capitals are in town. Accept my apologies that I won't be attending the game in Oceanside on Friday...electing to spend the night with my family, because once the season gets going for real Friday night's off are very very rare! I WILL be at the game on Saturday and will post scoring updates here on the blog!

The Bulldogs Coaching Staff provided an update late last week in regards to how their roster is shaping up in the form of returns/recruits and departures - you can check that out on the Bulldogs website HERE

The Bulldogs have a Home-and-Home set with the Nanaimo Clippers NEXT weekend to conclude the Exhibition schedule.

I'm happy to report that there will be a bare-bones broadcast available of BOTH games - through FastHockey ONLY.

Clippers Play-by-Play voice Dan Marshall will call the game on Friday, and Bruce MacDonald and I will call the game from the Dog Pound on Saturday.

Just a little heads up - this will be no way in any shape or form what our "real" broadcasts will be like (see bare-bones above) when we are professionally produced and operated through 93.3 The Peak FM studios. We are doing it on our own time for you the fans to follow the team, and also as a way to shake off the rust and do some tests and make sure all the Fast Hockey Pay-per-view broadcast equipment works. So don't expect a pre game or post game show or intermission features or rosters that we have had well in advance for the purpose of preparation, memorization, research, etc . We will do our best to cover all the action though!

You have most likely heard about the departure of my former co-hort at 93.3 The Peak FM  Jolie McMullan, who left the station to take on a full-time roll with the Bulldogs. She will be missed at THE PEAK for sure, but she will be just as beneficial to the Bulldogs! Make sure the Press Box is well stocked eh Jolie?

The 69th Fall Fair gets going tomorrow and goes through the weekend. Always a tonne of fun! Get all the details you need from the Fall Fair website HERE and from the Fall Fair Facebook page HERE

Last but not least, here's hoping we will see you out at the Alberni Golf Club for the 3rd Annual Bulldogs Golf Tourney on the 14th. Just come for dinner if you can't golf...but don't worry if you can't golf, it's about having some fun, and giving the players a chance to meet the fans and vice versa!

Here's a picture of the crowd from a couple years ago
