Clips 4 Dogs 1, Dogs host Grizzlies tonight, Maury Edwards interview, Post Game at Boston Pizza supporting Port Alberni Toy Run!

A tight game down to the wire was blown open by the Clippers with two empty netters in the final 30 seconds for a 4-1 final last night at the Frank Crane Arena.

The game had good pace and good flow early (and throughout the entire game for the most part) with the Bulldogs leading 1-0 after one period on a Brandon Halls goal late in the period as he joined the play on the rush and accepted a pass from Ryan Lough in the deep slot that he snapped short-side past the blocker of Billy Faust.

The Clippers had several good chances to tie it up in the second but Matt Larose was sharp, coming up with two big saves in tight off a rebound and then another stop on Kyle Kramer on a 2 on 1 rush. The Clippers would eventually find the net - almost exactly 20 minutes after the Dogs took a 1-0 lead - to make it a 1-1 score after 40 minutes with a power play marker as Dan Correale raced up ice and into the Dogs zone before losing the puck. It would end up on the stick of Andrew Gladiuk in the slot though where he beat Matt Larose with a quick release off the post and in glove side.

The score remained 1-1 until the back half of the third when the Clippers got the game winner, again on the power play, again on a broken play that ended up on the stick of Gladiuk as a point shot was blocked before he found it and again with a quick release fired it home glove side to make it 2-1. The Dogs would press for the equalizer with the goalie out but it was the Clippers scoring twice in the final half minute for the 4-1 final as Kyle Kramer made it 3-1 before Dan Correale made it 4-1 with six seconds left.

The Clippers outshot the Dogs 36-28 with both goalies coming up with solid efforts. Special teams were a huge difference in the outcome as the Dogs went 0 for 3 on the power play while the Clippers went 2 for 4.

Three Stars:
3rd Billy Faust
2nd Matt Larose
1st Andrew Gladiuk
