27th Annual Port Alberni Toy Run today, Dogs host Capitals to finish Exhibition sked tonight, Grand reopening at McDonald's today

The 27th Annual Port Alberni  Toy Run goes today, with the Bikes leaving Little Qualicum Falls at NOON SHARP.

If you have to get anywhere in town today, I strongly suggest you do it before noon, or after 1pm, as traffic will be snarled in town for close to an hour. A very small price to pay for the huge amount of dollars the Toy Run brings into our community, and the community events they support, ie Starlite Movie Night, the Easter Bunny Express, and of course the thousands of toys they deliver to those less fortunate at the holidays.

After the bikes arrive at Glenwood they get the adult bike rodeo games going and there's tonnes of stuff for the kids as well so be sure to head down. The dance goes tonight which is always an epic party, featuring Chevy Metal, Blacklist, and the Brady Band!

I say go to the Bulldogs game FIRST, then the party - hey, they are right next door to one another! The Bulldogs play their final Exhibition game tonight at 7pm as the Cowichan Valley Capitals return the favour and pay the Dogs a visit after the Dogs went down to the Big Stick yesterday and beat them 2-1. I will post updates throughout the game.

The Dogs will be active again tomorrow in the community, finishing up a very busy week (Raise a Reader Road Hockey, and two games) as they will once again take part in the Terry Fox Run! Way to go Dogs!

Bulldogs’ Participate in the Terry Fox Run

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Port Alberni, BC – The Alberni Valley Bulldogs will once again be participating in the Terry Fox Run, Sunday September 18th at 10: 00am.

This will be the third year in a row that the Bulldogs participate in the Terry Fox Run. “It is important for us to be out in the community,” comments Bulldogs Head Coach/Assistant Director of Hockey Operations Paul Esdale. “The players enjoy meeting the people of Port Alberni and enjoy showing their support for different causes in the community. It’s all part of the identity of a Bulldog player,” adds Esdale.

The Bulldogs will play their final exhibition game Saturday September 17th at 7:00pm at the Alberni Valley Multiplex. The Bulldogs Regular Season opener is September 24th at 7:00pm at the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

For more information please contact assistant coach Adam Hayduk at 250.723.4412 or adam@albernivalleybulldogs.ca.

If you see Bulldogs Assistant Equipment Manager Jamie Amos around the rink tonight or at the Run tomorrow, consider throwing a few bucks his way as he is participating in the run - last I heard he had over $1000.00 raised and if I am not mistaken he was the local Terry Fox Run Fundraising Champ last year!

Last but not least - come see me Live On Location for 93.3 The Peak FM today from 12noon to 4pm at the Johnston Road McDonalds for their Grand reopening as a McCafe today! They have tonnes of great specials to celebrate and a great new look!

That's it for now!
