R.I.P. Ryp, Alberni Golf Club Men's Club Update, "Goal Verification Line"

Very very sad story that hits too close to home for me when it comes to the death of Rick Rypien. If you need help adults and kids, CALL SOMEONE, TALK TO SOMEONE, like the Kuu-us Crisis Line Society

My favorite Rick Rypien highlights, a goal, and a scrap:

Here's the latest update from the Alberni Golf Club from Gerry Fagan. Thanks as always Gerry! I got out and played the course on Monday. It is in outstanding shape!

There was a good turnout for the Men’s Club new event “ Aged Partners “ on Sunday.

First low gross goes to the twosome of Bruce MacDonald and Tom Price, second was won by Preban Rasmussen and Dennis Debolt, in third place was Darrell Van Os and Cory Nielson, in fourth spot was Craig Acland and Brian Tall, with the final gross prize going to Al Wright and Glen Trask. On the net side in first place was Wayne Johnstone and Masami Hirayama, followed by Gerry Blender and Jerry Swaney. Bob Price and Doug Richmond, Jim Rhodes and Ron Barker, with the final net prize going to Wolf Suhr and Cliff Olaney.

Closest to the pin winners were Brian Tall on #2, Jerry White collected $21 for the Charity closest to the pin on #4. Jerry’s drive ended up about three inches past the hole. Terry Rai on # 13 and Doug Richmond on # 17, the long drive on #15 was won by Glen Trask. Also Jerry White won a total of $71 for birdies on #4 and #17.

This coming Sunday is the Mac 5 Challenge, sponsored by Bruce and Kathy MacDonald. This event is the most popular one of the season. It is a two man event, so find yourself a partner and register in the Pro Shop. Keep in mind when you are looking for a partner that your combined handy caps must total at least 20 or more. The usual $10 fee applies, with the shotgun start at 8 AM.

The format is as follows. Holes No 1-6 is alternate shot, both tee off, then hit each others second shot. From there decide which ball to use and alternate until you hole out. Gross scores only. Holes No 7-12 Best net ball, use the best net score only on each hole. Holes No 13-18, is a scramble. Minimum. of two drives each, use the gross score only. Subtract 1/3 of the team's handy cap from the score.

The following Sunday is the Dennis Jonsson Scramble. More about that next week
