B.C. Women's Amateur Championship update, THE PEAK at the Canada Day Parade tomorrow!

A quick update on the B.C. Women's Amateur Championship with two rounds now completed at the Alberni Golf Club. Port Alberni Native Christina Proteau (above) is in the same position today as she was after the first round, tied for 4th place, four shots off the pace set by Anica Yoo of Port Coquitlam and Taylor Kim of Surrey who sit at +1 143 after 36 holes. A good day yesterday for Jackie Little, as she shot a 73 to improve to a tie for 11th place after she was tied for 19th after the first round. The final local golfer in the field had a great bounce back day yesterday as Alyssa Herkel got herself back into contention with a 79 to sit at +24 166 through two rounds. The 79 was a huge improvement from her 87 in the opening round.

Keep yourself up to date by visiting the tournament website HERE for scoring updates, by listening to 93.3 The Peak FM , or better yet get out to the Alberni Golf Club to see the action live for yourself as the public is encouraged to come out to see some great golf!

The 2011 Canada Day Parade goes tomorrow with the theme of "Celebrate Our Community" as we celebrate Canada's 144th Birthday!

Huge thanks to the Port Alberni Folkfest Multicultural Society as they have invited 93.3 The Peak to host the Parade's "Reviewing Stand" at Safeway. The Peak's Operations Manager David Wiwchar, Afternoon Drive host Jolie McMullan and myself will be up on the stand with a public address system giving you details on the floats as they "float" by.

The parade gets going at 10am and runs down 10th Avenue from Burde to Hollywood. The Food Fair & entertainment follows the parade at Glenwood Centre, kicking off at 11:30 with a flag raising and official opening ceremonies!
