We'll see you at the DOG POUND tonight! Make some noise!
And one more thing I forgot!
Hi Jolie and Evan,
I have talked with you before, and are hoping you can help our club with a spot on the news, or in community services.
As you know, the track and field club here is Port Alberni is very successful. We have several athletes who are top in the province, including Graham Villette, Gavin Purewal, Arlene Oldale, and Luke Bradley, who all made Summer Games teams this year. We also have some very successful Junior Development athletes who are top in the province including Heather Cruickshank and Thompson Weegar. These athletes are/will be making provincial teams, winning at provincial championships, and are likely to become involved at the national level!
What this means for our small local club is that funds to travel to championships are done thru fundraising, or the parents have to incur the full cost, and some of these , especially national teams, could mean up to $3000.
Our club is working on raising funds to support our athletes. On Saturday (yes this Saturday, Sept 18th) we have 2 coaches and 2 executive taking part in the Great Lake Cowichan Walk, and they have been taking pledges for this. Our coaches participating in this 56 km walk are Dave and Jill Sherlock, and we have the president Tracy Smith, and Vice President Sheila Weegar walking as well.
The Bulldogs (your special interest Hammer) have agreed to allow the club to set up a table at the opening game tomorrow night, to allow us to drum up some pledges. We are hoping you will provide us a little mention on the air, encouraging our hockey fans to support our track athletes!
Our little town is very good at supporting one another in our respective endeavours. Any and all assistance you can provide us would be welcome!
Thanks again for any help you can provide!

And don't forget the Toy Run rolls into town tomorrow sometime after 12pm. BEWARE that you won't be able to drive through much of the town for about an hour tomorrow. I think it's worth it, as the Toy Run has raised over 1,000,000 for LOCAL Children's Charities over their 25 years so far!
Get it all LIVE on THE PEAK tomorrow!
Last but not least, here's a bunch of pictures from the shenanigans at the final Men's Night of the season at the Alberni Golf Club last night! What a night! Thanks Bruce, thanks team!
