Bulldogs Lewis Commits to Sacred Heart
PRESS RELEASE
June 1, 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are extremely pleased to announce that
graduated player Tye Lewis has committed to Sacred Heart
University for September 2010. Sacred Heart is a highly regarded
NCAA Division 1 school in Fairfield Connecticut. The Pioneers play
in the Northeast Conference of Atlantic Hockey.

Lewis came to the Bulldogs in December in a trade from the Trail
Smoke Eaters that saw Curtis Tonello and Robert Lindores leave the
Bulldogs. Lewis finished the season with 23 goals and 41 assists for

64 points in 54 games between Trail and Alberni. He was widely
known for his big league shot, quick release, and his explosive
speed.

When Lewis arrived in Alberni he was excited to be part of a strong
team but he was also excited to be coming to an organization that had a great reputation
for helping players move on to the next level of college hockey. "I knew playing in
Alberni would give me the best chance of achieving my dream of playing division 1
NCAA hockey," said Lewis, "I owe the organization a lot for the work they did to help
me realize that goal. I am looking forward to this next chapter in my life." Lewis will be
pursuing an academic program in either Criminal Justice or Business.

"We are very excited for Tye" commented Bulldogs General Manager/Head Coach Paul
Esdale, "Tye is an offensively gifted player that deserves this opportunity. Tye's hard
work on and off the ice, combined with academic advisor Tom McEvays' guidance and
direction, Tye's dream of playing Division 1 hockey has become a reality."

Alberni Wrestling release …..

Savannah Toth Commits to University of Regina

Grade 12 ADSS wrestler Savannah Toth has committed to attend the University of Regina and wrestle on an athletic scholarship for their varsity Cougars team starting in September 2010.

Toth was a two time BC High School Champion at ADSS and was a three time National medalist including a National gold in 2008. She has been one of the most successful female athletes that the local program has had in their rich history.

Head ADSS wrestling coach John McDonald commented, "We are extremely proud of Savannah and very happy that she has decided to continue her wrestling career at the university level. She has had a tremendous high school wrestling career and we are confident she will have great success at university both athletically and academically."

University of Regina head wrestling coach Leo McGee was excited to land Toth for his wrestling team. "Savannah is a very strong student, and would make an outstanding addition to any varsity program. We are very excited about Savannah's decision to continue her education, and compete here at The University of Regina as a Cougar. On behalf of the University of Regina, I would like to thank Coaches John McDonald and James Messenger, the Alberni Wrestling Club, and all the coaches for their time in the development of this athlete."

Several university wrestling programs were recruiting Toth but in the end she decided that Regina was the best fit for her. Her final decision came after a trip to the Regina campus last week and meetings with coach McGee and his staff. Toth commented, "I just felt very comfortable with the coaches and the environment at the University of Regina. It was quite clear that they really wanted me there and this made my decision easier. I look forward to starting university in September and moving to the next level with my wrestling."
