RBC Cup decision coming, Bulldogs Hockey School, GOLF GOLF GOLF.

The Hockey Canada AGM goes this weekend, and it's expected that an announcement will be forthcoming sometime tomorrow or Sunday regarding who gets the 2012 RBC Cup. Is it Fort MacMurray, Alberta, Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Kingston, Ontario, or Port Alberni, BC?

All great hockey communities for sure.....may the best bid win. I have seen the Alberni Valley bid package, and to say it was impressive and professionally put together would be a gross understatement.

The thought that we could be 1 or 2 days away from one of the biggest news items in this cities history, and then 2 years of excitement building up to the event is....well.....EXCITING!

The Okanagan Hockey School Hockey Camp, presented by the Alberni Valley Bulldogs - goes August 16th to 20th at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.

For more information call the Bulldogs Office or visit them at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.

A great time was had by all at the Alberni Golf Club's Men's Night last night. My dad is in town visiting from Manitoba so I had to get him out there to take part in what is always a fun, fun, fun night.

The only bad part of the night was all the Blackhawk stuff EVERYWHERE.

Spraypaint on the course. Pictures all over the clubhouse. Pretty funny stuff, as Head Pro Bruce MacDonald is a die hard Hawks fan and he is letting everyone know it. Hey, they haven't been this far since '92 and they haven't won it all since '61 so we should just let him have his fun!

 Nice spelling! haha

At the end of it all, Crazy Cal took home a "Closest to the Pin" prize of a gift certificate from Double R Meats. Perfect, as we were planning on Steaks on the deck tonight!

Cal's shot took the prize away from Nolan Graham.....but Nolan wasn't too upset as he had 2 other KP's anyway. Good shootin' Coach. Or old Coach I guess. It was nice to see Nolan, and nice to get out and hit a couple holes with him.

Huge thanks to Bruce for hosting us, to our teammates Trent and John.

One last thing on the Golf front, if you can handle it!

Don't forget that the Rotary Club's 100,000 Hole-in-One Challenge is going on as we speak, with qualifying today and tomorrow from 11am to 7pm. The 5 closest shots to the hole from both days join the top 5 from yesterday and Wednesday in the shoot-off on Sunday afternoon.

Cal has been hitting the ball pretty well, as he put one to within a foot on Wednesday to qualify for Sunday's Final at 1pm. The tough thing is that he and mom are flying out of Comox at 11am on Sunday. Whoops. They are trying to change their flight. Hey, it's worth it for that one magic shot to win $100,000!
Of course the Rotary Club does many great things for the community, so try to support them through this if you can!
