More on Dziurzynski - VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS, INTERVIEW ON THE PEAK THIS MORNING, Alberni Golf Update

Here's some video from the playoffs....

Please give it 5 stars :)

Don't forget "Dizzy" will be on THE PEAK morning show with me just after 8:10am today.

And here's an article from the Alberni Valley Times - Dziurzynski bound for Ottawa Senators

And here's an update from Gerry at the Alberni Golf Club...

In Men’s Club action on Sunday, Jaques Giovetti had the game of the day shooting a gross 77 taking home 2 balls, with Cory Nielson carding an 81 winning 1 ball. On the net side of the competition Fred Fredrickson came in with a 72 to win 2 balls while Steve Pointon shot a 73 collecting 1 ball for his effort. The Charity closest to the pin on #2 pocketing $11 was Jim Proteau, other closest to the pin winners were Steve Acland on # 4 no one on #13, Steve White on # 17 and for his second shot on #11 it was Jacques Giovetti. Money pot winners on Sunday were Jacques Giovetti who got the only 2 on #13 with a chip in and the only deuce on # 4 was recorded by Cory Nielson, congratulations Gentlemen.

I understand that one of the Club’s Directors out for a leisurely game of golf on Sunday afternoon playing with his wife and the Hillmans had an amazing shot on hole #2. Congratulations go out to Gerry Toms who recorded a hole-in-one. The way I hear it, using his driver Gerry hit a low screamer across the creek bounced in front of the green hit the flag stick doing 100 miles per hour and came to rest at the bottom of the cup. Way to go Gerry. Club Captain Craig Acland and myself will be expecting our drink next week. For those who dream of a hole-in-one don’t forget to buy your hole-in-one insurance in the Pro Shop, just in case.

Up next for the Men’s Club is the Westwind Pub/Dave Gray Contracting Partner with a Pro competition. When you come into the clubhouse on Sunday morning, you pick a number out of a hat, the corresponding Pro playing in the Masters tournament will be your partner for the day. Your net score added to the Pro’s gross score is where you will finish in our event. It doesn’t matter what the Pro has shot already just what he shoots on Sunday. He could be dead-last in the field and come through with a spectacular round as your partner.
This is an individual event, be sure to register in your own foursome or as a single and you will be placed on a team. The shotgun start takes place at 8am, try to be there a few minutes early so you can get to your assigned tees on time. The usual fee of $10 applies. Don’t forget to register for the money pot, ball sweep and Charity closest to the pin for $2 each.

Something to keep in mind ladies and gentlemen. The Rotary Club’s 2nd annual hole-in-one competition. Qualifying rounds to be held May 26,27,28 and 29 at the Alberni Golf Club. Qualifying will take place on the driving range from 11AM until 7PM each day with the final being held on Sunday May 30th. To Qualify all you do is hit balls to a designated hole on the driving range and the 5 closest to the pin each day, 20 in all, will be eligible to shoot for big prizes on the final day. You can purchase golf balls from the attendant on the driving range for $1 per ball or 12 balls for $10.There will be qualifying prizes awarded each day. On the final day all 20 contestants go to one of the par 3’s on the golf course and are entitled to hit 3 balls at the hole from different locations on the tee. If you get a hole-in-one on the first ball you win $100,000 If you sink your 2nd ball on the first shot you win a brand new car or truck and if you get it in on the third ball you win a $10,000 dream vacation. Golfers of all levels are invited to come out and try your luck, challenge your friends make this a fun filled event with the possibility of cashing in big time. All funds raised will go to the Rotary’s Scholarship Fund. As most golfers have short memories, I will be reminding you from time to time until the event happens.

You have been gushing about the signing for awhile now. It happened in the SJHL with a kid in La Range too. Don't pretend like it's the most shocking event in the world with this seemingly non-stop coverage. In the WHL it happens 50 times a year. Settle

If in fact you don't like all the gushing and talking about it.....stay off the blog and get back onto the SJHL and WHL forums. Seriously can't people be happy and not jealous?

The news just became official from the Senators YESTERDAY.

I just had the kid on my morning show THIS MORNING.

FOUR posts, in THREE days, isn't non stop coverage.

I shouldn't talk about it and promote it though? I don't know what your line of work is, but I suggest to stick to it, and leave the media and blogging to me.

I will not settle, not one bit. Don't like the blog coverage, don't come visit it. (Don't miss the DONATE NOW button at the top of the right hand side)

This is extremely exciting news, for sure the biggest in this franchises history and possibly the biggest sports story in this city in half a century.

Great story out of La Ronge too. If I was the Ice Wolves Voice, or a SJHL Broadcaster, I'd be giving it just as much promotion.

My question is - why would someone in Swift Current want to take the time to downplay a kids accomplishment in Port Alberni, BC?

I know it happens in the WHL all the time. Newsflash, this isn't the WHL.

The most exciting part about it all, is seeing the kid get this great opportunity, after seeing him work so hard all season.

(Wayne) In my opinion Dziurzynski deserves all the coverage he has gotten over the past few days and he should have been getting the coverage throughout the year as IMO. he has been the domanant player for the Bulldogs all season.

I also think that because of Dziurzynski's efforts the Bulldog organization and players collected a lot of acalades and hardware for the regular season and he recieved very little recognition from the Club or the League, so he deserves all the press he is getting now.

I see the BCHL. is using him to promote the BCHL. NOW!
