Dogs drop 3-1 decision in Salmon Arm

Its hard to belive the shot totals were correct in this one. But I don't doubt those that count them, so here goes..

The Dogs had a tough time getting it going tonight in Salmon Arm, mustering only 8 shots through the first two periods.

Salmon Arm wasn't much better in generating shots, as they had only 6 to the Bulldogs 2 after the first period but they did have a 1-0 lead. The second period saw things pick up a bit, but not much with the Backs firing 7 on goal while the Dogs managed 6 for a shots on goal total of 15-8 Salmon Arm after two. The Silverbacks scored the only goal of the second on the PP to lead 2-0 into period three.

They then built the lead to 3-0 on a really weird goal as a wrap around hit Frank Slubowski, went up in the air, came down, hit him again and then ended up on the goal line before being tapped in.

The Dogs did a better in the third showing more jump, but it wasn't enough. Trent Dorais made it 3-1 with five minutes left on a nice set up by Mitch MacMillan but after a missed 5 on 3 power play chance the Dogs were done.

David Dziurzynski rang one off the crossbar shortly after the Dogs had made it 3-1. If that goes in it might have been an interesting finish.

Final shots favoured the Dogs 20-17.

Next up for the Dogs is a tilt with the defending BCHL and RBC Cup Champion Vernon Vipers who at last report were taking the boots to the Capitals up 14-0 in the third.

Catch the pregame show tomorrow at 1:45 with the play-by-play at 2pm.

And no I didn't get a camera charger!
