The Alberni Valley Bulldogs will announce another new player with a press release late this week. The player will then join me for an interview on the 93.3 THE PEAK FM morning show Friday just after 8:10am. So stay tuned for some news!
It's Tim Horton's CAMP DAY today! Here's all the info you need to know for the Port Alberni festivities! Please get to Tim's today to send a kid to camp!
Camp Day info.....
On Camp Day, the entire coffee proceeds from the 24-hour period, as well as monies raised through Special events and Rent A Tent revenues are donated to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation.
Our local events take place from 7am to 3pm. We have many special guests joining us for the day as well to help serve customers.
Purchase an environmentally friendly reusable Tim Horton Children’s Foundation bag for $5 in support of Camp Day. Every bag contains a special prize tag with prizes ranging from donuts and muffins to iced lattes and other special prizes.
MEGA Marshmallows! How many marshmallows have we stuffed in the bucket?? Every guess is $1. The winner will be the first correct entry drawn (or the closest guess if there is no correct entry) and the prize will be awarded on Camp Day.
The BBQ will be set up on the front lot and will offer a Hotdog and a drink for $2 starting at 11am. Thanks to Buy Low foods for the donation of wieners, buns and all the fixings!
Give $’more for the kids
Special smore donuts will be featured this year … chocolate, graham cracker crumbs and marshmallow fill….. yummy! A one day only special treat for a $2 donation! These are seriously good - you have to have one!!!!

Thanks to my buddy Jade, I actually got to watch some hockey last night as the Pens got back into the Stanley Cup Final with a 4-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings. I predicted a 4-1 Pens win. Close enough. Anyone but the Wings! Go Pens!
A final note before I go regarding the Alberni Golf Club Men's Club events that go (almost) every Sunday. Thanks to Gerry Fagan for the update!
The Men’s Club this past Sunday saw Preban Rasmussen shoot a 74 to take home 3 balls on the gross side, while Cory Nielson won 2 balls for his 76. Bob Matlock had the low net of the day carding a very suspicious 60 winning 3 balls and Wayne Johnstone took home 2 balls for his 66.
Closest to the pins were won by Steve White on No 2, which was also the charity KP and collected $23 for his effort, Ken Manhas on No 4
Jean Contant on No 13, Preban Rasmussen on No 17 and Steve White for his second shot on No 6.
This Sunday is the red white and blue competition, sponsored by Port Boat House. The way it goes is as follows, each hole you hit from a different tee marker. Just so there wont be any confusion the score cards will be marked. Every man for himself in this event, just make up your own foursomes and register in the Pro Shop. You can also register as a single and Bruce will put you in a group. The shotgun start is at 8AM, with breakfast available starting at 6:30.
