Bulldogs Add Matt Hutchinson, Interview on THE PEAK this morning

Alberni Valley Bulldogs Sign Defenseman Matt Hutchinson

June 11th 2009

Alberni Valley Bulldogs are pleased to announce the signing of 91 D Matt Hutchinson.

The North Vancouver native competed last season in the Pacific International Junior B Hockey League (PIJHL) for the Abbotsford Ice Pilots. Hutchinson was instrumental in the Pilots playoff drive last season. The Pilots lost in the PIJHL league finals to the eventual National Champion Richmond Sockeyes. Due to the Sockeyes hosting the Cyclone Taylor Cup (BC Junior B Championship), the Pilots received an automatic bid in the provincial Championship, where they finished 5th.

The 6’1” 195lb defenseman posted 5 goals, 16 assists and 63 PIM in 48 regular season games for the Pilots last season.

“Matt is a physical and strong defenseman, he has a great attitude, and is extremely competitive. Matt is a defenseman that finishes his checks hard and is tough to play against in the defensive zone.” comments GM/Head Coach Nolan Graham.

“Matt will help solidify our defensive core with his hardnosed competitive play. Matt has a good mind for the game, moves the puck well, and has the ability to make smart plays in all zones.” adds Graham.

Matt will be joining me on THE PEAK morning show at 8:10am today. Catch it live on our website at if you aren't in the listening area.

Game 7 tonight....Go Pens! Sidney Crosby's playoff beard DESERVES IT.

It's a big day for the Salvation Army tomorrow...I'll be there on behalf of the station, so I hope to see you there! Please read more below.
