The 2009 World U17 Challenge is getting closer and closer. Last night I attended the Volunteer Rally at the Capitol Theatre, and the excitement was just oozing out of everyone.
Today the U17 crew along with RBC Olympian and 2008 Beijing Gold Medallist Adam Kreek are touring every single school in the Alberni Valley to speak to the kids and fire up excitement for the event. Hearing Adam speak last night, I know the kids will just love this guy today!
How about this picture? The first time I have held a SUMMER Olympic Gold Medal. I did hold a Winter Olympics Gold Medal once upon a time when I ran into Cassie Campbell at the 2002 Royal Bank Cup. I couldn't believe how heavy it was!
Below, U17 Media Director Stefanie Weber opens up the proceedings as Leo the Lion looks on. Stefanie needed the referee jersey as she had Ron Paulson and Tom McEvay BOTH speaking in the same evening. She was very close to doling out some ten minute misconducts on several occasions :)
Adam Kreek sings O'Canada to start the night off. Very cool stuff!

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are back in action tonight as they host the Cowichan Valley Capitals. Get it all on Port Alberni Safeway Bulldogs Hockey on 93.3 The Peak FM with the pregame show getting underway at 6:45 and the puck dropping shortly after 7pm.
Tonight's second intermission feature GUESTS will be an interview I taped last night with Tom McEvay and Adam Kreek, about touring the schools in the valley today, the experience of the olympics, and the U17's in general.
TOMORROW'S second intermission feature guest will be former Bulldog MAURY EDWARDS, now playing at UMASS Lowell.
SUNDAY'S second intermission feature guest will be former Bulldog Marcello Ranallo, now playing at UCONN.
That's all I have for now.
