To coincide with the 2009 World U17 Hockey Challenge, the Alberni Valley Multiplex will be getting a $100,000 lighting upgrade. Cool! I am getting more than a little fired up for the U17 Tournament. Remember, THE PEAK will be broadcasting 6 games from the event. While TV lights doesn't help radio at all, maybe they'll put in some better audio? HA.

Speaking about the 2009 U17's....It was nice to see Mike Carter and Ron Paulson out at the Fall Fair with an information booth for the tournament. In the above picture, you can see the U17 Trophy in the background. In the foreground is a seating map of the Multiplex. The red dots on the map indicate the only remaining ticket packages. So if you are planning on guaranteeing your seats, you better get them in a hurry! Visit the official 2009 World U17 Hockey Challenge website here

I just HAVE to say a few words about heading down to Boston Pizza on Saturday to watch the UFC pay-per-view presented by Dragon Martial Arts.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that I just haven't ever really watched UFC. I have seen it a time or two on the tube, but that's about it.

Boston Pizza owner Dean Montgomery invited us down there on Saturday to check out the event, and I must say a HUGE THANKS because it was not only a great event to watch, but it was a fun atmosphere as well which just made it more exciting. Inside the lounge it was packed when we showed up and there wasn't a seat to be had, so I thought we were out of luck and too late! We were saved from leaving when a waitress snagged us and told us that there were TV's out on the patio...WHAT?!! Yes, it seems that Dean anticipated a huge crowd to watch the event so he MacGuyver'd a flat screen onto the patio for the evening!

I will certainly be back to watch the next UFC PPV should my schedule allow it. The ending to the main event (Chuck Liddell vs Rashad Evans) and even the Rich Franklin vs Matt Hamill bout instantly hooked me on the sport...In the blink of an eye, it could all be over! Exciting!

I wasn't liking watching how bad of shape Liddell was in after the knock out (he looked like Joe Walter after Daniel Moriarty was done with him, BA ZING!) but that's just part of the sport.

Good times, good fun!

That's it for now....but there's always more on the way if I have time!!!!
